Stopping in accordance with Category 0 is performed by immediate re-
moval of power to the amplifier (STOPMODE and ACTFAULT parame-
ters set to "1").
With this circuit the switching sequence is defined precisely to avoid
undesirable fault messages and failures of the servo amplifiers.
A stop in accordance with Category 0 cannot be achieved with the
servo amplifier alone. Hard-wired electromechanical components are
specified for this type of shutdown.
A brake which is built into a motor must have an additional electrome-
chanical circuit in addition to being controlled through the servo am-
plifier.
Brakes on servo motors usually only operate as a holding brake. To
guarantee the stop function, check the dynamic torque that is re-
quired. If a holding brake meets the dynamic requirements, the fact
that this application will cause increased wear must be taken into ac-
count.
