1 Indications for use

The dynamic ankle orthosis 50S1 Dyna Ankle is to be used exclusively for the orthotic treatment
of acute ankle sprains and ruptures of lateral collateral ligament.
2 Indications and function
Acute sprains and ruptures of lateral collateral ligament of the ankle. Indication is given by the
physician.
The Dyna Ankle orthosis places the foot in moderate pronation and dorsiflexion. The dynamic
restraint limits plantar flexion and supination while preserving the range of motion in pronation
and dorsiflexion. Positioning the orthosis with the dynamic strap provides relief of the anterior
talofibular ligament.
The trimlines and straps are positioned to leave the outer ankle free, avoiding pressure points,
thus allowing immediate application of the orthosis following injury. Heat or ice may be applied
with the orthosis in place. It should serve its initial function as a post surgical immobilizer during
the first two weeks. Then, subject to physician approval, the orthosis may be worn with a shoe
during weight-bearing activities.
The Dyna Ankle is generally worn both day and night for stability for 6 weeks and is removed
only for bathing.
The orthosis is waterproof and easy to clean and care for.
3 Size selection of the orthosis
The orthosis is selected according to the shoe size:
