Some EX1200 series mainframes (hence referred to as EX126x) include an onboard DMM (please
refer to EX1200 Series DMM Specifications for details regarding functions, ranges, and accuracy).
The DMM can be used in three different ways:
By directly connecting the DUT to the front panel connectors
Connection of the DUT to a switching plug-in module with access the DMM backplane
(described later in this section).
Utilizing the rear panel DMM bus D-sub connector (see Table 4-1).
The DMM Bus connector can also be used to extend DMM use to other EX1200 instruments to
use a single DMM.
Programming access to the DMM is provided through a soft front panel which resides on the web
server of the EX1200, the Windows based IVI drivers (both IVI-C and IVI-COM), and through a
multi-platform driver. To exercise the complete capabilities of the DMM, as well as to achieve
required accuracies/speeds, it is important to understand DMM operation. This section of the
manual provides basic information on how to use the onboard DMM. Programming information
can be found in the VTEXDMM help file provided with the DMM driver. Programming examples
are provided to facilitate the use and understanding of the VTEXDMM driver and can be found at
the following location:
<Local Hard Drive>:\Program Files\IVI Foundation\IVI\Drivers\VTEXDmm\Examples.
Information regarding use of the DMM via the embedded webpage can be found in the DMM Soft
Front Panel description in Section 7.
WARNING
The EX1200 DMM is a CAT-I measuring device. As such, it is designed to make measurements
for circuits that are not connected to mains power. Under DMM installation CAT I and A, the
EX1200 DMM CANNOT be used for measurements in measurement categories II, III, and IV per
EN 61010.
