System Buttons
To the right of the Status Display are two system buttons that affect the functionality of the
EX1200 system and all installed modules.
Lock/Unlock: Requests (or releases) exclusive access to the EX1200 system.
Reset: Resets the SFP and the connected modules to power-on defaults.
Self Test: Performs a self-test operation of the DMM hardware. See Self-Test in Section 4 for
more information.
Basic Settings Field
The Basic Settings field allows the user to select the type of measurement that will be made by
the DMM as well as specifying simple measurement parameters.
Measurement Mode buttons: These buttons control the type of measurement the DMM will
make.
V--: Sets the DMM to take dc voltage measurements (DCV).
V~: Sets the DMM to take ac voltage measurements (ACV).
Hz: Sets the DMM to take frequency measurements.
A--: Sets the DMM to take dc current measurements (DCI).
A~: Sets the DMM to take ac current measurements (ACI).
1/Hz: Sets the DMM to take period measurements.
Ω 2W: Sets the DMM to take 2-wire resistance measurements.
Ω 4W: Sets the DMM to take 4-wire resistance measurements.
°C: Sets the DMM to take temperature measurements.
Range: Indicates the input range the DMM will use when a measurement is taken. The drop
menu provides different ranges depending on the Measurement Mode that was selected.
For DCV and ACV the following ranges are available: Auto Range On, Auto Range Off,
For DCI and ACI the following ranges are available: Auto Range On, Auto Range Off, 10
Hz measurements are performed at 1.5 MHz range, while 1/Hz measurements are at 0.3333 s.
For Ω 2W and Ω 4W measurements, the ranges are: Auto Range On, Auto Range Off, 100
NOTE
When Auto Range is selected, all measurements dynamically determine the most appropriate
range. Selecting Auto Range Off causes all future measurements to use the last actual range. The
Auto Range Once function is equivalent to using Auto Range On for one measurement, then
switching to Auto Range Off for the subsequent measurements.
Option: Provides various options depending on the Measurement Mode selected above.
For DCV: Provides a 10 M(Ω) or HIZ option. The 10 M option should be used to minimize
For ACV, ACI, Hz, and 1/Hz: Provides High Filter, Medium Filter, and Low Filter
For DCI: No options are provided.
For Ω2W & Ω4W: Provides the HI_I and LO_I options. The HI_I option uses the high test
Input: Indicates whether the input is from an Internal source or from the banana jacks on the
DMM's Front Panel.

selects slowest, most accurate ac filter. The Medium Filter option provides a
compromise between the speed and accuracy of the other two filters.

ranges offer two current sources; this option will have no effect on other ranges.
