VTI Instruments Corp.
Range Delay: The amount of time the DMM takes between measurements on the same
function, but on different ranges.
Auto checkbox: When selected, the auto range function is enabled.
Delay (sec): Sets the range delay. Valid values are between 0 and 4294.967295 s.
Auto Zero: When enabled, the DMM automatically tares itself against an internal reference
before each reading.
Power Line (Hz) drop menu: Selects either 50.0 Hz or 60.0 Hz as the ac frequency of the
DMM's power source.
Aperture Time: Indicates the time, in seconds, over which the DMM will integrate the
analog inputs. The longer the time, the more accurate the reading. Note that this property and
Digits are interrelated hardware settings. Thus, changing one affects the other. Valid values
vary depending on the power line frequency and the mode setting.
For 60 Hz PLF: 0.00167, 0.0167, 0.167, and 1.67.
For 50 Hz PLF: 0.0002, 0.002, 0.02, 0.2, and 2.0.
For Frequency and Period modes: 0.0014, 0.014, and 0.14.
Saved Configurations Field
The Saved Configurations field allows the user to store, recall, and remove predefined settings
for the DMM. To save a configuration, simply define the configuration using the DMM soft from
panel, then click on the Save button in the Saved Configurations field. A prompt will appear
requiring a name for the configuration. Once a name is entered (only alphanumeric characters,
dash (-), and underscore(_) are allowed), click the OK button in the prompt to save these settings.
To recall a saved configuration, press the Load button, select the name of the configuration that is
required, then click on the OK button. To delete a preconfigured state, simply click the Delete
button, select the state, the press OK. All saved configurations can be easily cleared at once by
selecting "Delete All Stored Configurations" from the list in the Delete dialog.
Measurement Field
From the Measurement field, the user can start a measurement.
Initiate: This button initiates a measurement, moving the internal state machine from 'Idle' to
'Waiting for Trigger'.
Software Trigger Button
The Send button will send a software trigger to the DMM. This causes the trigger model to
advance if the selected Sample Trigger Source or Trigger Input Source is Software.
Readings Field
Below the DMM configuration fields, a data field is provided, with options, that is populated as
measurements taken by the EX1200's DMM are read from FIFO.
No.: Indicates the row number, for reference.
Time: Indicates the IEEE 1588 time the measurement was taken.
Value: Displays the measurement data.
Unit: Indicates the engineering units of the measured data.
Function: Indicates the function used when taking the measurement was taken.
Option: Indicates the function options (if applicable) used when the measurement was taken.
Range: Indicates the range that was used when the measurement was taken.
Limits: Indicates the trigger output limits met when the measurement was taken.
The following control options are provided:
Get Continuous checkbox: If enabled, this button disables the Get button and continually
populates the data table as data is acquired.
