Notes on replacing bulbs
G
WARNING
Bulbs, lamps and plug connectors can
become very hot during use. When replacing
a bulb, you could burn yourself on these
components. There is a risk of injury.
Allow these components to cool down
before replacing the bulb.
!
Make sure bulbs are positioned securely.
Bulbs and lamps are an important aspect of
vehicle safety. You must therefore ensure that
all bulbs are functioning at all times.
To prevent a short circuit, switch off the
R
lighting system and the ignition before
replacing a bulb.
Wear eye protection and gloves when
R
replacing a bulb.
Only hold bulbs with a clean, lint-free cloth
R
or a similar item. Do not work with wet or
greasy fingers.
Only fit 24 V bulbs of the same type and of
R
the correct wattage.
Have the headlamp adjustment checked
R
regularly.
If the new bulb still does not light up, visit a
R
qualified specialist workshop.
Do not use a bulb if it has been dropped or
R
if its glass has been scratched. The bulb
could explode. You could be injured by the
shards of glass from a broken bulb.
Keep bulbs out of the reach of children.
R
Only fit bulbs in enclosed lamps that have
R
been designed for them.
Only use replacement bulbs of the same
R
type and with the appropriate voltage.
Dirt on the glass bulb reduces the operating
R
life of the bulb. Do not hold the glass bulb
with your bare hands. If necessary, clean
the glass bulb with alcohol or spirit while it
is cold and wipe with a lint-free cloth.
Protect bulbs from moisture when in use
R
and do not allow them to come into contact
with liquids.
Check contacts for corrosion and clean
R
them if necessary.
Check that all seals are positioned correctly.
R
Replace damaged seals.
R
Bulbs have a limited service life.
Mercedes-Benz recommends that if a dipped-
beam headlamp or main-beam headlamp bulb
fails, the corresponding bulb in the other head-
lamp should be replaced at the same time.
Mercedes-Benz recommends that you use
Mercedes-Benz long-life bulbs for this pur-
pose.
If necessary, have the bulbs of the additional
headlamp and the LED standing lights
replaced at a qualified specialist workshop.
