WARNING
Damaged child restraint systems or child
restraint systems that have been subjected
to a load in an accident or their securing
systems cannot protect the child as inten-
ded. The child cannot be restrained, espe-
cially in the event of an accident, heavy
braking or a sudden change of direction.
There is an increased risk of injury, possibly
even fatal.
Have damaged child restraint systems or
child restraint systems that have been sub-
jected to a load in an accident replaced as
soon as possible. Have the securing systems
for the child restraint systems checked in a
qualified workshop, before you install a child
restraint system again.
Observe the warning labels on the child
restraint system.
If a child is travelling in the vehicle, always
observe the safety notes on "Children in the
Y
vehicle" (
page 34).
Universal child restraint systems are identified
by their orange approval label.

The seat belt is the securing system for child
restraint systems.
If you secure a child in a forward-facing child
restraint system on the co-driver seat, always
move the co-driver seat as far back as possi-
ble. The base of the child restraint system
must rest completely on the co-driver seat
cushion. The backrest of a forward-facing child
restraint system must sit as flat as possible
against the seat backrest of the co-driver seat.
However, the child restraint system must not
be weighed down by the head restraint. If pos-
sible, adjust the head restraint settings
accordingly. When doing so, always ensure
that the shoulder belt strap is correctly routed
from the belt outlet to the shoulder belt sash
guide on the child restraint system. The shoul-
der belt strap must be routed forwards and
downwards from the belt outlet. Always com-
ply with the child restraint system manufactur-
er's installation instructions.
You can obtain child restraint systems and
information about the correct child restraint
system from any Mercedes-Benz Service
Centre.

G
WARNING
If you leave animals unsupervised or unse-
cured in the vehicle, they may press buttons
or switches, for instance.
In this way, animals may:
activate vehicle equipment and become
R
trapped, for example
switch systems on or off and thereby
R
endanger other road users
Furthermore, unsecured animals may be
flung around inside the vehicle in the event
of an accident or abrupt steering or braking
manoeuvre, and thereby injure vehicle occu-
pants. There is a risk of accident and injury.
Never leave animals unattended in the vehi-
cle.
Always secure animals properly when driv-
ing, for instance with a suitable pet carrier.
