Observe the following notes on the rear
towing device.
Do not use the towing device to tow or

recover vehicles.
Do not exceed the maximum pulling angle

of 15° in relation to the vehicle's longitu-
dinal axis.
Observe the notes on the towing device
R
identification plate.
Do not load the towing device with more
R
than the weight given below. Otherwise,
the cross member could be damaged.

Unhook catch ; on coupling pin :.

Remove coupling pin :.

Attach the towbar.

Push coupling pin : down through the eye-
let of the towing bar.

Hook catch ; onto coupling pin : again.
Jump-starting, tow-starting and towing away

Rear recovery and lashing eyelets
You can use the recovery and rear lashing eye-
lets : and straps and chains with suitable fix-
tures for lifting, recovering and lashing the
vehicle. Lifting the vehicle from the front and
rear simultaneously is not permitted. For per-
missible loads and all further information, see
the separate lashing instructions.
Tow-starting the vehicle
Important safety notes

Turn the key to the drive position in the igni-
tion lock.
Vehicles with manual transmission
X
Depress and hold down the clutch pedal.
X
Shift to 4th or 5th gear.
X
Tow-start the vehicle.
Do not exceed a towing speed of 20 km/h.
X
When the maximum permitted towing speed
is reached, release the clutch pedal and
depress the accelerator pedal.
If the permitted engine speed is exceeded,
!
the warning buzzer sounds. Shift to a higher
pulling-away gear or reduce the tow-starting
speed. Do not exceed the permitted engine
speed. Otherwise, you could damage the
engine.

When the engine starts, depress the clutch
and shift the transmission into neutral.
