Depress the brake pedal.

Press the ! button.

lamp in the instrument cluster go out.
The parking brake is released
Automatically applying the electric
parking brake
Requirements:
the vehicle is at a standstill

the engine is running or the ignition is

switched on

Switch the engine off.
or

Switch the ignition off.
The parking brake is applied automatically.
The LED indicator lamp in the ! button
lights up red.
The ! indicator lamp in the instrument
cluster lights up red.
Automatically releasing the electric
parking brake
Requirements:
the engine is running or the ignition is

switched on
the pressure in brake circuits 1 and 2 is suf-
R
ficient
the doors are closed
R

Engage a gear.
The HOLD function of the electronic brake
system is activated.
The ë indicator lamp is shown in the on-
board computer display.
The vehicle is held by the service brake.
The parking brake is released.

Pull away.
The HOLD function of the electronic brake
system is deactivated.
The vehicle starts moving.
The ë indicator lamp in the on-board
computer display goes out.
Testing the parking brake
Requirements:
the pressure in brake circuits 1 and 2 is suf-
R
ficient
the parking brake is applied
R
lever : is in the starting position
R

Pull lever : beyond the locking point and
hold.
The parking brake's test position is activa-
ted.
Performing check position
The
window appears in the display.

During the test, the vehicle combination is
only held by the force exerted by the spring-
loaded brake of the tractor vehicle. The
trailer/semitrailer brake is released.
Auxiliary braking with the electric
parking brake
Requirements:
the parking brake is released
R
the vehicle speed is > 5 km/h
R

Depending on the desired strength of the
auxiliary braking, pull lever : no further
than the locking point.
The parking brake is applied depending on
the lever position.
If the pressure in the spring-loaded cylinder
is < 6.5 bar, the ! indicator lamp in the
instrument cluster lights up.
HOLD function
Important safety notes
The HOLD function holds the vehicle without
needing to continue applying the brakes, e.g.
when pulling away on a hillside or during peri-
ods spent in stationary traffic.
The HOLD function is only an aid. The driver is
always responsible for safeguarding the vehi-
cle against unintentional rolling away.
