The jack is designed only to raise and hold
R
the vehicle for a short time while a wheel
is being changed. It is not suitable for per-
forming maintenance work under the vehi-
cle.
Only position the jack at the appropriate
R
jacking point of the vehicle. Make sure that
the jack is correctly positioned on the jack-
ing point before raising the vehicle.
Before raising the vehicle on the non-
R
steered axle, safeguard it against rolling
away by applying the parking brake and
positioning wheel chocks. Do not release
the parking brake while the vehicle is raised.
The jack must be placed on a firm, flat and
R
non-slip surface. On a loose surface, a large,
load-bearing underlay must be used. On a
slippery surface, a non-slip underlay must
be used, e.g. rubber mats.
Only use the support block from the vehicle
R
tool kit as a jacking support and no wooden
blocks or similar objects. Otherwise, the
jack will not be able to achieve its load-bear-
ing capacity due to the restricted height.
Do not raise vehicles equipped with a load-
R
ing crane or loading tailgate by using the
hydraulic supports. This would cause dam-
age to the chassis frame.
Make sure that the distance between the
R
underside of the tyres and the ground does
not exceed 3 cm.
Do not place your hands or feet under the
R
raised vehicle.
Do not lie under the raised vehicle.
R
When the vehicle is raised, do not start the
R
engine and do not open or close the doors.
Make sure that nobody is in the vehicle
R
when it is raised.
When you remove the defective wheel from
the axle, the centre of gravity can shift slightly
because of the weight of the wheel. After the
wheel nuts have been loosened, the wheel
could fall or topple over.
Further information on tyre pressure can be
found in the "Tyre pressure" section
