2.16 Rear PTO control

The handle to engage the rear PTO drive 23 (figure 2.1.1) has three positions:
upper position – "PTO independent drive engaged";
middle position – "PTO drive off";
lower position – "PTO synchronous drive engaged".
The rear PTO control lever has two positions:
shifting lever 2 (figure 2.16.2) from the extreme rear position to the extreme front position
engages the rear PTO;
shifting the lever from the extreme front position to the extreme rear position disengages
the rear PTO.
ATTENTION: ENGAGE THE RPTO SYNCHRONOUS DRIVE ONLY FROM THE NEU-
TRAL POSITION WHEN THE ENGINE IS ON, AT LOWEST GEARS OF GB FIRST AND
SECOND RANGES WHEN THE TRACTOR IS MOVING. OTHERWISE, POWERTRAIN
CAN BE DAMAGED! SWITCHING OF PTO SYNCHRONOUS DRIVE INTO THE NEU-
TRAL POSITION IS PERFORMED IN THE SAME WAY!
ATTENTION: ENGAGE THE PTO INDEPENDENT DRIVE FROM THE NEUTRAL POSI-
TION ONLY WHEN THE ENGINE IS OFF! SWITCHING OF PTO INDEPENDENT DRIVE
INTO THE NEUTRAL POSITION IS PERFORMED IN THE SAME WAY!
Note – The PTO control lever 2 in figure 2.16.2 is set into the position "PTO off".

Switching between the rear PTO speed of 540 and 1000 rpm is carried out exclu-
sively by installing the corresponding PTO shaft end extensions, that have corresponding
markings of "540" and "1000". "BELARUS-1523.5" tractors do not have a special switch
between the speeds of 540 and 1000 rpm of the rear PTO.
The rear PTO drive on tractors "BELARUS-1523.5" with GB 24x12 has two operation
modes:
standard – 540 and 1000 rpm;
economic – 770 and 1460 rpm under engine rated speed.
Shaft 3 (figure 2.16.3) located on the left of the clutch coupling housing under the HLL
pump, is designed for switching the modes of the RPTO drive.
Switching between the modes of the rear PTO (standard and economic) shall be carried
out only when the engine is off or with the engine min. idle speed. To do this, it is required
to loosen fixing bolt 4 (figure 2.16.3) and turn shaft 3 until engaged into the clutch, after
