Maintenance of the sealing bars

The maintenance of the sealing bars includes the replacement of the Teflon strip. The Teflon strip has
to be replaced if there are scorch marks on it. The sealing and cutting wires can also be replaced at the
same time, if necessary.
Recommendation
Keep a complete set of sealing bars in stock. This means that they can be changed whenever
necessary without interrupting production too much! Send the used set of sealing bars to the
VC999 Customer Service Department to be reconditioned.
Removing sealing bars
 Loosen the two knurled screws (10) on the outer edge of the sealing bars (single anti-clockwise
rotation).
 Press both knurled screws towards the middle of the sealing bar until the limit stop and retighten
them in this position. The sealing bar can now be removed downwardly from the guiding pins.
Replacing the Teflon strip
 In order to remove the Teflon strip, peel off the
glass-fibre adhesive tape on either side (1).
 Dispose of the glass-fibre adhesive tape.
 Dispose of the used Teflon strip (2).
 Clean the sealing bar (3) with acetone. Ensure
that the room is well ventilated.
CAUTION
Risk of fire! Acetone is highly inflammable! No smoking and no naked flames!
 If you find that the sealing and cutting wire is no
longer taut enough when you change the Teflon
strip, they must be replaced. The procedure is
described in the next section.
 Apply the new Teflon strip (2) tightly, leaving no
creases, and also rub it with a clean cloth.
 Also attach the Teflon strip (2) to the side of the
sealing bar (3) using the glass-fibre adhesive tape
(1).
