5.9 Inverter (present on variable speed machines)

This component is a frequency converter for asynchronous three-phase motors that manages the
acceleration and deceleration ramps.
Warning! The machine leaves the factory pre-configured. Do not modify inverter configurations as
doing so may cause risk to persons.
When the device is powered, the power components and some control components are connected
to the power supply line and touching them is extremely dangerous. The cover must remain closed.
In general, power must be disconnected before performing any operations on electrical or
mechanical parts.
After the ALTIVAR inverter has been switched off and the display is completely off, wait 15 minutes
to work on devices safely. These 15 minutes are required to discharge the capacitor
ALTIVAR 12 DIAGNOSTICS AND TROUBLESHOOTING
The messages displayed on the ALTIVAR12 inverter display listed in the table below block the inverter. The
cause of the displayed defect must be eliminated before resetting the inverter. It is possible to reset the
inverter by disconnecting and subsequently repowering.

THE CONNECTION, THE CABLE AND CONTACTOR
VERIFY NETWORK POWER
CHECK VARIATOR CABLE CONNECTIONS TO THE MOTOR AND MOTOR
INSULATION
REPLACEMENT
CHECK CABLES CONNECTING THE VARIATOR TO THE MOTOR AND
MOTOR INSULATION
WAIT FOR IT TO COOL BEFORE STARTING UP AGAIN
