Add/Drop Application

You can use one of the EXTender 7000 WAN ports as an Add/Drop port, which can send traffic to another
network device.
Using the MI, specific DS0 channels of the T1/PRI Port_1 can be mapped to the Add/Drop port. This allows
traffic on those channels to remain unchanged while they are passed through the T1/PRI card to another
device on the network. For an example of the configuration required for a complete Add/Drop application,
see the Add/Drop 6000 and 7000 application in the EXTender 7000 User's Guide.
Note: Add/Drop application is only available when T1/PRI Port_1 is connected to a T1 Leased Line or a T1
Frame Relay Line.

Add/Drop Configuration

WAN Port Setup

By default the T1/PRI Port_1 is the source port. Either WAN1 or WAN2 must be enabled prior to configuring
the Add/Drop port.
1. Access the WAN menu using the following path:
MI Path
Configuration->WAN->WAN1
2. Set the Enable to Yes. This will enable the selected WAN to receive data dropped from T1/PRI Port_1.
3. Set Mode to Sync-V.35.
4. Set Interface Type to DCE.
Note:
DCE is used in Add/Drop configurations (connecting to an EXTender 6000 or a Router). In DCE installa-
tions, you must use the 25 pin Female-to-Female crossover cable (DB-25, RS-530) that we provide.
5. Access the Sync Setup parameter and enter the Sync Rate (bps). This is the bandwidth that has been
allocated to the Add/Drop Services.
Exampes:
T1 Leased configuration; the sum of DS0s assign as Add/Drop x DS0 rate
T1 Frame Relay configuration; the 'Maximum Bandwidth' assign in PVC setup for Add/Drop.

Enabling Add/Drop Service

Once the WAN port has been configured you need to enable Add/Drop on that WAN port. This is done by
using the Add/Drop services menu.
1. Access the Add/Drop menu using the following path:
