Appendix E: Monochromator Control
As has been previously discussed in this manual, the Acton IsoPlane spectrograph can be
controlled using Princeton Instruments' LightField, WinSpec, or SpectraSense software. It
can also controlled from a computer using the supplied Monochromator Control software
via the RS-232 or USB interface. Information about how to do this is provided in this
appendix.
E.1 Install the Monochromator Control Software
The Monochromator Control software is a stand-alone Acton software program for basic
scanning and calibration. Utilities for grating updates and communications are also
included.
The software is installed using the install disk shipped with the monochromator. Typically,
the software is installed in the following directory:

During program installation, a
desktop for launching the software. If an icon is not placed on the desktop, the program can
be launched using one of the following methods:
Once the Monochromator Control software loads, its primary screen provides options for
monochromator operation as well as other setup functions.
Clicking the
monochromator wavelength is performed.

Navitage directly to the
directory and double-click on the program's executable file.
NOTE:
If these options are grayed out, exit the program and connect the
IsoPlane. Once the IsoPlane has been initialized, launch the
monochromater control program again.
