Installing System Administration & Diagnostics
Installing the latest System Administration & Diagnostics application automatically installs the latest
DB Programming application. DB Programming can then be launched from the System
Administration & Diagnostics user interface. Newer versions of DB Programming will later be installed
as plug-ins so that the main System Administration & Diagnostics application does not have to be
re-installed just to get a newer version of DB Programming.
Instructions for installing and using System Administration & Diagnostics are outlined in the System
Administration & Diagnostics Guide (part number 550.8125) and the help accessible from the
application's user interface.

Restoring the Database

After installing the v6.0 or later system software and the new System Administration & Diagnostics
application as described in the preceding sections, use the MiVoice Office 250 Database Utilities to
convert, test, and restore the saved database.
NOTE Restoring the database may result in a system reboot.
To restore the database:
1. Launch the System Administration & Diagnostics application.
2. Open, convert, and test a copy of the database that was saved prior to installing the new system
software. Use the MiVoice Office 250 Database Utilities to convert the saved database, and
then use the DB Test and Repair utility to test it.
DB Test removes unused items from the database (e.g., unused trunk groups, or extension lists
or hunt groups with no assigned extensions). For this reason, you may want to run it in Test
mode only, and then view the changes in the log. If the changes will not negatively impact the
database, then run DB Test again in Test and Repair mode.
NOTICE
You run the risk of running the system on a corrupt database and/or losing e-mail gateway settings
if you do not convert and test the database.
3. Restore the saved, converted, and tested database. Also restore any saved voice mail data and
file-based MOH files, if necessary.
When using System Administration & Diagnostics to connect to a system with a restored
NOTE
database, be sure to enter the appropriate system account username and password pair.
4. Upload the license file:
a. From the DB Programming menu bar, select Operations – Software License Operations –
Upload Software License.
b. Enter the path and name of the license file or click Browse to search for the file.
