MiVoice Office 250 Installation and Administration Guide
Optional door relay control
Real-time clock circuitry for accurate date and time function
Digital signal processor (DSP) technology for conferencing resources, Dual Tone Multi-Frequen-
cy (DTMF) detection/transmission, tone generation, and modem operation
Optional expansion for IP-heavy installations (or additional voice processing resources) via the
same Processor Expansion Card (PEC-1) used in the original CS Controller chassis

16-Port Digital Desktop Module (DDM-16)

Up to 16 digital devices can be connected to the DDM-16, and there can be up to three DDM-16s
installed in any of the four expansion bays. If more than 48 digital devices are required, up to four
optional DEI units can be attached to the system. The same digital telephones and SLAs supported
on the DEI's DEM-16 are supported on the DDM-16. Each DDM-16 includes:
A single 48-pin connector and a special DDM cable for connection to a station block at the Main
Distribution Frame
Status LEDs (online, busy, and remove)
Module release lever for safely removing the module from the bay
DSP resources (4 DTMF receivers, 5 tone generators, and 16 speakerphones for devices con-
nected to the module)
Note that the newer DDM-16s are not subject to any of the voice channel trade-offs that the original
DEM-16s are subject to when used in two-DEI or four-DEI mode.

Door Relay Control

The HX Controller chassis includes a relay jack that can be used to unlock a door (i.e., "buzz" it
open) by dialing a feature code. For details on hooking up a door relay control mechanism to the
relay jack on the chassis, see "Installing the Door Relay Control" on
feature, there is a phone-related flag in DB Programming called Activate Door Relay (refer to the
MiVoice Office 250 Features and Programming Guide, part number 580.8006, for details).

Support for Existing Expansion Modules

The same expansion modules available on the original CS Controller platform can also be used on
the newer HX Controller platform, including:

Dual (2-Port) T1/E1/PRI Module (T1M-2)
2-Port Loop Start Module (LSM-2) — discontinued and longer available for purchase
4-Port Loop Start Module (LSM-4)
Basic Rate Module (BRM-2) - UK only
4-Port Single Line Module (SLM-4) — no longer limited to one per chassis
8-Port Single-Line Module (SLM-8) — installed in the DEI chassis (see next section)
16-Port Digital Expansion Module (DEM-16) — installed in the DEI chassis (see next section)
