Digital signal processor (DSP) technology enables Conferencing, Dual Tone Multi-Frequency
(DTMF) detection, tone generation, modem operation, and Automatic Number Identification (ANI),
or Caller ID.
The MiVoice Office 250 can operate as a stand-alone system or as a node in a network of up to 99
MiVoice Office 250 nodes.

MiVoice Office 250 Interfaces

The MiVoice Office 250 provides multiple access ports to the features and functionality of the platform.
From the front of the chassis, the technician can set-up the system and program it if desired, read
system alarm messages, backup voice mail messages, and monitor ongoing system events. From
the back of the chassis, the technician can connect system power, a local area network (LAN), trunks
and spans, two single line devices, two loop start trunks, and an external music source, paging
system, and voice mail system. See "Specifications" for details.

Optional Processor Expansion Card

Attaching an optional Processor Expansion Card (PEC-1) to the system's Processor Module (PM-1)
provides additional IP and/or voice processing resources. See the MiVoice Office 250 Enginerring
Guidelines for details on when a PEC-1 might be needed.

Optional Processing Server

An optional Processing Server, available as both a physical device (PS-1) and virtual applicane
(vPS-1) can be networked to the system to provide the additional call processing power needed for
many larger installations. See the MiVoice Office 250 Enginerring Guidelines for details on when a
PS-1/vPS-1 might be needed.
With v2.1 or later, the PS-1 supports 16-port Unified Voice Messaging (previously called Basic Voice
Mail) and handles call processing chores for the entire system. It controls and communicates with
the Base Server across the customer's local area network (LAN). For rlease 5.0 and higher, UVM
can now be licensed for up to 24 or 32 voice mail ports, as follows:
24 UVM ports (maximum) on a standalone CS Controller (without a PS-1/vPS-1)
32 UVM ports (maximum) on a standalone HX Controller (without a PS-1/vPS-1)
32 UVM ports (maximum) on a CS or HX Controller equipped with a PS-1/vPS-1
For systems that utilize numerous IP phones, IP trunks, and IP networking, v2.0 and later allow
over-subscription of IP resources. With over-subscription, dynamic allocation of IP resources, and
Camp On capability, a system can be programmed with more phones than it has IP resources
available to support simultaneously. For oversubscribed systems, the Resource Reservation Tool
allows you to reserve IP resources for essential functions such as Emergency/911, as well as other
customer-specified devices and phones.
