Peripheral Equipment

The MiVoice Office 250 supports peripheral, or external, equipment that provide enhancements to
the IP system's basic business communication services. The following sections describe equipment
that can be attached to the platform.

Voice Processor

NOTICE
The Voice Processing Unit (VPU): The VPU is no longer supported in v3.0 and later software. The
VPU was discontinued in May 2007. Mitel recommends that current VPU installations upgrade to Unified

making calls to the NuPoint UM voice mail.

SMDR/Error Message Output

Output data from SMDR and Error Message Recording features is accessed through an IP socket.
For details, refer to the MiVoice Office 250 Features and Programming Guide.

CT Gateway

System OAI Level 2 applications can be used in conjunction with the CT Gateway. The CT Gateway
provides a TCP/IP System OAI interface that supports a network. As far as the System OAI streams
are concerned, each node in a network functions individually. The user cannot program a System
OAI connection to Node 1 that will control devices or receive events for other nodes. If the user
needs to control devices on multiple nodes, they must install a CT Gateway. The CT Gateway
receives the OAI streams from multiple nodes and consolidates them into a single stream for a
System OAI application. The CT Gateway sends and receives all of its data via TCP/IP connections.
For details, refer to the CT Gateway Installation Manual, part number 835.2161. For environmental
requirements, see
page
60.
