Remove the cover (2).

Check that there is no crack in arm (a), pulley (b), and arm
stopping portion (c), spring case stopping portion (d) and
(e) of auto-tensioner (3).
NOTICE
Replace the auto-tensioner (3) if there is any crack or
damage on it. 3
Auto-tensioner (3):
45 to 55 Nm {4.6 to 5.6 kgm}

Check that the arm stopping portion (c) of the auto-ten-
sioner (3) does not contact to the spring case stopping
portion (d) or (e) when the alternator belt (2) is installed.
NOTICE
Replace the alternator belt (2) if the arm stopping portion (c) of the auto-tensioner (5) comes in con-
tact with the spring case stopping portion (d) or (e).
REMARK
Remove the alternator belt (2). See DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY "REMOVE AND INSTALL ALTERNA-
TOR BELT".
Remove the testing tools and restore the machine after the test is finished.
