30 TESTING AND ADJUSTING
NOTICE
The following may be a cause of damage of the belt.
• Incorrect tension was applied.
• When width or length of the alternator belt is incorrect
• When pulleys are displaced
• When pulley has a scratch
• When tensioner is damaged
• Incorrect installation
• Severe operating environment
• When oil or grease is attached to the side of the alternator belt
If the belt is visibly worn, the auto-tensioner may be worn as well, and the pulley may have a rough
surface. In that case, the newly replaced alternator belt may be damaged on early stage because of
the continuous use of the pulley. Replacement of the Alternator belt and the auto-tensioner are rec-
ommended.
