4.9.3 Connection via SIMODRIVE 611D (SINUMERIK 840D)
Parameter setting
For SINUMERIK 840D a third handwheel can be connected via an encoder interface of a
drive, in connection with SIMODRIVE 611D. Parameterization of the third handwheel is done
via the following NCK machine data:

Example
Parameterizing of the 1st and 2nd handwheel is done in accordance with the description of
the chapter "Connection via cable distributor (Page 324) ".
Connection of the 3rd handwheel is done via the lower encoder interface of the
SIMODRIVE 611Ddrive with logical drive number 4.

When connected via an encoder interface of a SIMODRIVE 611Ddrive, the hardware
segment has always to be entered as 1 (local hardware segment).
As hardware module of the handwheel, the logical drive number according to machine
data MD13010 is to be entered as $MN _DRIVE_LOGIC_NR.
The number of the encoder interface used, has to be entered:
– Upper encoder interface: 1
– Lower encoder interface: 2
The handwheel connected via the encoder interface of a drive must always be
parameterized as the 3rd handwheel.
