4.2.2
Distinction between inching mode continuous mode
Selection
In JOG mode, we distinguish between traversing in inching mode and in continuous mode.
The selection is made using general setting data
SD41050 $SN_JOG_CONT_MODE_LEVELTRIGGRD
(inching mode/continuous mode in continuous JOG)
and applies to all axes.
Default setting
Traversing in inching mode is the default setting.
Continuous travel in jog mode
Function
In inching mode (default setting), the axis traverses for as long as the traversing key is held
down, provided that no axis limitation is reached. When the traversing key is released, the
axis is decelerated to zero speed and the movement comes to an end.
Continuous traversing in continuous mode
Function
When the traversing key is pressed and quickly released (first rising edge), the axis starts to
traverse at the set velocity in the desired direction. This traversing movement is continued
even after the traversing key is released. The movement of the axis is stopped either by the
user or because of a response within the control (e.g. software limit switch reached).
If "continuous" mode is selected, several axes can by started by pressing and releasing the
relevant direction key. Any interlocks must be implemented via the PLC!
Interrupt traversing movement
The user can use the following methods to interrupt the traversing movement:
● Setting feedrate override to 0%
● Axial feed disable (PLC interface signal)
● NC STOP or NC STOP axis/spindle
If the cause of the interruption is removed, the axis continues to traverse.
