Clean the Split Flow Interface
The split flow interface (SFI) can both be flushed and cleaned. The flow meter assembly will
be required to follow the procedures in this section.
prOCeDUre
1. Fill a syringe with a 50:50 (v/v) mixture of HPLc-grade methanol and water with no
additives and mount in a syringe pump.
2. If fitted, remove the SFI from the VERITY 1910 MS Detector
(Remove the Split Flow Interface on page 64) and remove the spraychip
(Remove the spraychip on page 55).
3. Fit the following components of the flow meter assembly to the SFI; flow meter adapter
and adapter union.
4. Attach the SFI to the syringe using the adapter union and the provided infusion line and
fitting (Figure 36).
5. Flush the SFI using the syringe pump.
6. Infuse at least 300 µL of the methanol/water solution through the SFI at a flow rate of
10 µL/min. The solution will drip from the end of the waste and input lines of the SFI.
7. Disconnect the infusion line and the adapter fitting from the SFI. The SFI is now clean and
ready for use.
● To check the SFI is working as expected, measure the output flow rate.
The measured flow rate should be slightly higher (~20%) than the desired flow rate defined
from the spit ratio.
NOTE
In the event the SFI appears blocked and/or the measured flow rate is incorrect, replace the
low flow tubing located inside the SFI (Replace the Split Flow Interface Tubing on page 67).
If the problem persists, contact Gilson (Before Calling Us on page 74).
