4. Screw the spraychip® to be cleaned into the SFI and place it on a lint free tissue on a flat
surface.
CAUTION
5. Infuse at least 150 µL of the water/methanol using a flow rate of 10 µL/min. The solution
will flood the spraychip during this process.
6. Unscrew the spraychip from the SFI and gently blow dry with compressed air or nitrogen
to remove any excess liquid.
7. Allow the spraychip to dry completely. The spraychip is now clean and ready for use.
USING the reDUCING UNION
1. Using either oD 1/16" tubing or calibration kit infusion line, connect the spraychip to the
reducing union as shown below.

2. Use 50:50 (v/v) mixture of HPLc-grade methanol and water with no additives as cleaning
solvent.
3. Flush the spraychip using a syringe pump or a standard Lc pump.
4. connect the SFI infusion line to either the syringe or the Lc pump.
5. Infuse at least 150 µL at 10 µL/min through the spraychip until it is completely saturated.
The solution will drip off the end of the spraychip.
6. Unscrew the spraychip from the SFI and gently blow dry with compressed air or nitrogen
to remove the excess of liquid.
7. Leave the spraychip for a few hours to dry completely. The spraychip is now clean and
ready for use.
If an increased delay is observed on the SFI when using the cleaned spraychip, attempt to
clean again. In the event that this delay continues to be unacceptable then the spraychip
must be replaced.
NOTICE
If the spraychip looks visually degraded, or if you have any questions, please contact Gilson
before using the VERITY 1910 MS Detector. Refer to Customer Service on page 12.
Do not mount the SFI to the VERITY 1910 MS Detector during this process.
