Gas Supply Port and Connection
a standard lab oil free and dry nitrogen gas supply is required. The supply pressure must be
2–6 bar (29–87 psi), and deliver a minimum flow of 2.5 l/min with a purity greater than or
equal to 99.5%. In addition, an in‑line gas filter can be used to trap common contaminants
found in labs. The tubing connecting your gas supply to the instrument should be 6 mm or ¼"
oD PTFE (supplied), copper, or stainless steel. nylon or similar plastic tubing contains volatile
compounds that can contaminate your chemical signal and should not be used. If you have a
different fitting, please contact your Gilson representative for a suitable adapter suggestion.
Refer to Rear Panel Connections on page 24 for the location of all ports and connected cables.
connect a suitable length of clean polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) tubing from the gas supply
to the nebulizer gas port (M). ¼" tubing or 6 mm tubing can be used. ¼" tubing can only be
connected to the port using an adapter fitting.

NOTE
Exhaust Port and Connection
There is a pump exhaust at the rear of the unit that can be connected to an air extraction
system via gas tubing (e.g., a fume cupboard or an air‑con outlet). The exhaust connection
requires 8 mm tubing (not supplied), and adapters for 5/16" or 3/8" tubing are available
on request. any common lab tubing material can be used, including nylon. If the chemicals
you are using are not harmful or hazardous, then the exhaust can optionally be connected
to a silencer (supplied), which removes any unwanted noise from the pumps. Refer to
Rear Panel Connections on page 24 for the location of all ports and connected cables.
If the VERITY 1910 MS Detector is not contained in a vented hood, connect a suitable length
of 8 mm tubing from the pump exhaust (n) to the laboratory's exhaust system.
CAUTION

InSTallaTIon
Use only clean PTFE tubing and stainless steel fittings for the nitrogen gas line to avoid
contamination.
If replacing or refitting the gas supply tubing it is recommended that the end of the line is
freshly cut before connection to the nebulizer gas port (M).
To prevent injury and damage to equipment ensure the blanking plug is removed from the
exhaust port before activating the pumps.
