Thehigh-voltagebatteryunitalsohasalow-voltageconnection,aswellasthehigh-voltage
connection.Theintegratedcontrolunitsaresuppliedwithvoltage,databus,sensorandmonitoring
signalsviathisinterface.Itisincorporatedintherefrigerantcircuitforcoolingthehigh-voltagebattery.
Thelabelonthehigh-voltagebatteryunitinformspeopleworkingwiththesecomponentsaboutthe
technologyusedandpossibleelectricalandchemicaldangers.
Theelectricalvoltageofthehigh-voltagebatteryunitiswellover60 V.Thisiswhybeforeanyworkat
thehigh-voltagebatteryunittheelectricalsafetyrulesmustbeobserved:

Disconnectthesystemfromthepowersupply

Provideasafeguardtopreventunintentionalrestarting

Establishthatthesystemisisolatedfromthepowersupply.
Theelectricallines(high-voltageandlow-voltage),aswellastherefrigerantlines,canbedisconnected
withouthavingtoremovethehigh-voltagebatteryunit.
Thehigh-voltagebatteryunitislocatedoutsidethepassengercompartment.Ifthebatterycells
generateexcesspressureduetoamassivefault,thearisinggasescannotbetransportedoutwardsvia
aventpipe.Aventholeatthehousingofthehigh-voltagebatteryunitissufficienttoallowpressure
compensation.
Thehigh-voltagesafetyconnector(ServiceDisconnect)isnotanelementofthehigh-voltagebattery
unit,justlikeincurrentBMWactivehybridvehicles.Itislocatedbelowtheenginecompartmentlid.
