13.OperatingStrategy
Theoperatingstrategyhasthetaskofmaximizingtheservicelifeofthehigh-voltagebatteryand
protectingitagainstdamageduringoperation.Allcustomerrequirementswhendrivingandduring
chargingshouldalsobefulfilled.Thebehavioroftheelectricmotorintheeventofafaultisalsoan
elementoftheoperatingstrategy.TheEDMEisthemastercontrolunitfortheoperatingstrategy.
13.1.Operatingstrategywithpureelectricdrive
TheI01isdesignedasavehiclewithapureelectricdriveforurbanmobility.Thehigh-voltagebattery
andtheelectricalmachinedeliverimpressivevehicleperformances:

Beforeadrivetorqueisapplied,theEDMEmustcheckwhetherthedrivingreadinessisestablished.
TheEDMEalsoquerieswhetherallsubsystemsoftheelectricaldrivetrainarefunctioningtrouble-
free,whichisalsoaprerequisitefortheprovisionofadrivetorque.Finally,theEDMEstillhasto
considertheavailableelectricalpowerfortheelectricmotorwhichisprimarilydeterminedbythe
conditionofthehigh-voltagebattery.TheSMEcontrolunitcommunicatesthisconditiontotheEDME
controlunitviacorrespondingbussignals.AsaresultofthesecheckstheEDMEidentifieswhether
andinwhatscopethedrivetorquecanbeprovided.Inthecaseoffaultstatusesorintheeventof
limitedavailability,theEDMEissuesanappropriateCheckControlmessageviatheinstrumentcluster.
