Thepilotlineandtheproximitylinearerealizedassimplesignallines.Thesesignallinesareshielded
andendataconnectorinthecharginginterfacemoduleLIM.
Viatheproximitylinetheconnectionofthechargingpluginthechargingsocketatthevehicleis
identified,aswellasthemaximumcurrentcarryingcapacityofthechargingcabledetermined.Inthe
connectorofthechargingcablethereisanohmicresistorbetweentheproximityconnectionandthe
protectiveearth.TheLIMappliesameasuredvoltageandcalculateswhichvaluetheresistancein
theproximitylinehas.Theresistancevaluespecifieswhichmaximumcurrentlevelisallowedforthe
chargingcableused(dependentonthelinecross-section).Theassignmentofresistance–current
levelisspecifiedinthestandardIEC 61851.
Thepilotlineisrequiredforthedeterminationandtransmissionofthemaximumavailablecharging
currentlevel.Thepilotsignalisabipolarrectanglesignal(-12 Vto+12 V).Thevoltageandtheduty
cycleareusedforthecommunicationofdifferentstatusesbetweenEVSEandI01:
