5.3.2

Positioning Components

Positioning EM Base Station
The EM Base Station can be positioned on either side of the patient bed via the table rail. Select
a setup in which the EM Base Station cabling, especially the cabling of the EM instruments, fits
your workflow and will not interfere with persons or other equipment.
The EM Base Station must be positioned outside of the region in which the surgeon intends to
operate and outside of the region that is considered as sterile. The EM Tracking Unit
components are unsterile.
Do not allow the EM Tracking Unit components to enter the sterile field.
Do not place the EM Base Station and the Navigation Station less than 60 cm from the EM
Field Generator as this may affect the tracking volume or the system accuracy.
Positioning EM Field Generator
The EM Field Generator can be positioned on either side of the patient's head. Select a setup in
which the EM Field Generator does not interfere with the surgeon's position.
Use an appropriate head rest for the patient.
