5. Remove the starter rope from the pulley.
2. Inspect the starter pulley for worn pawl engage-
ment teeth. Also check for wear on the surface
of pulley that is in contact with the starter spring.
3. Make sure old grease and dirt are cleaned from
all starter components before reassembling.

NOTE: Two types of starter pulleys were used in
the production of the AC-1 engine. Your unit is
equipped with one of the starter pulleys shown.
Starter Inspection and Service

Inspect the starter rope for wear or frays.

Replace the rope if necessary.
