Coolant Temperature Compensation (Engine
Over Temperature Protection System)

Coolant temperature compensation reduces fuel
delivery if the engine coolant temperature is above
the cooling system specifications.
Before
standard
engine
warning/protection systems engage, the reduction
in fuel delivery begins when the engine coolant
temperature reaches approximately 107 °C (225 °F).
A rapid reduction of 15 percent is achieved when
engine coolant temperature reaches approximately
110 °C (230 °F).
NOTE:
Coolant
temperature
disabled in emergency vehicles that require 100
percent power on demand.

Engine Crank Inhibit (ECI)
ECI will not allow the starting motor to crank when
the engine is running or the automatic transmission
is in gear. ECI is an optional system for vehicles with
manual transmissions.

Change Engine Oil Interval Message
The change engine oil interval message can be
programmed with the EST for mileage, hours, or
amount of fuel used.

Optional Features
Road Speed Limiting
Road speed limiting limits the speed to the maximum
vehicle speed programmed by the customer.
Cruise Control
The ECM controls the cruise control feature. The
cruise control system functions similarly for all
electronic engines. Maximum and minimum allowable
cruise control speeds will vary based on model. To
operate cruise control, see appropriate truck model
Operator's Manual.
Engine Fuel Pressure (EFP) Monitor
The EFP monitors fuel pressure and indicates when
the fuel filter needs to be serviced. For additional
information, see "EFP Sensor" in Section 7 (page
406).
