7-25. ALIGNMENT OF MAIN LANDING GEAR.
a.
Place a straightedge no less than fifteen feet long across the front of both main landing gear
wheels. Butt the straightedge against the tires at the hub level of the landing gear. Ascertain that the
straightedge is the same distance from the forward side of the axle hubs. Devise a support to hold the
straightedge in position.
b.
Place a spacer block against the wheel rim at the hub line, with the wide end toward the front of
the wheel to check and/or adjust the landing gear for proper toe-in of .5 degree. (Refer to Figure 7-9.) Set a
square against the straightedge and spacer block and check to see if its outstanding leg bears against the
spacer block. (A spacer block may be fabricated according to Figure 7-23.)
