CHECKING THE BRAKE HOSES/

BLEEDING THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEM

CHECKING THE BRAKE HOSES
The follow ing procedure applies to all of
the brake hoses and brake hose clam ps.
1. Check:
• brake hose 1
Cracks/dam age/w ear → Replace.
2. Check:
• brake hose clam p
Loose → Tighten the clam p bolt.
3. Hold the m otorcycle upright and apply
the brake several tim es.
4. Check:
• brake hose
Brake fluid leakage → Replace the
dam aged hose.
Refer to " FRONT AND REAR BRAKES"
in chapter 7.

Bleed the hydraulic brake system w hen-
ever:
• the brake system w as disassembled,
• a brake hose was loosened, discon-
nected or replaced,
• the brake fluid level is very low ,
• brake operation is faulty.
NOTE:
• Be careful not to spill any brake fluid or
allow the brake fluid reservoir to over-
flow .
• When bleeding the hydraulic brake
system , m ake sure that there is alw ays
enough brake fluid before applying the
brake. Ignoring this precaution could
allow air to enter the hydraulic brake
system , considerably lengthening the
bleeding procedure.
• If bleeding is difficult, it m ay be neces-
sary to let the brake fluid settle for a
few hours. Repeat the bleeding proce-
dure w hen the tiny bubbles in the hose
have disappeared.
