CHECKING THE CARBURETOR JOINTS

CLEANING THE AIR FILTER ELEM ENT
1. Rem ove:
• fuel tank
Refer to " FUEL TANK" .
• air filter case cover 1
• air filter elem ent
2. Clean:
• air filter elem ent
Apply com pressed air to the outer sur-
face of the air filter elem ent.
3. Check:
• air filter elem ent
Dam age → Replace.
4. Install:
• air filter elem ent
• air filter case cover
CAUTION:
ACHTUNG:
Never operate the engine w ithout the
air filter element installed. Unfiltered air
w ill cause rapid w ear of engine parts
and may damage the engine. Operating
the engine w ithout the air filter element
w ill also affect the carburetor tuning,
leading to poor engine performance and
possible overheating.
NOTE:
When installing the air filter elem ent
into the air filter case cover, m ake sure
that their sealing surfaces are aligned to
prevent any air leaks.
5. Install:
• fuel tank
Refer to " FUEL TANK" .

The follow ing procedure applies to all of
the carburetor joints and intake m anifolds.
1. Rem ove:
• carburetor assem bly
Refer to " CARBURETORS" in chapter 6.
