c. Rem ove the w heel bearings 3 w ith a
general bearing puller.
d. Install the new w heel bearings and oil
seals in the reverse order of disas-
sem bly.
CAUTION:
ACHTUNG:
Do not contact the w heel bearing center
race 4 or balls 5. Contact should be
made only w ith the outer race 6.
NOTE:
Use a socket 7 that m atches the diam e-
ter of the w heel bearing outer race and
oil seal.

CHECKING THE BRAKE DISCS

The follow ing procedure applies to both of
the brake discs.
1. Check:
• brake disc
Dam age/galling → Replace.
2. M easure:
• brake disc deflection
Out of specification → Correct the
brake disc deflection or replace the
brake disc.
M ax. brake disc deflection
Front: 0.1 mm
Rear: 0.1 mm
a. Place the m otorcycle on a suitable
stand so that the w heel is elevated.
b. Before m easuring the front brake disc
deflection, turn the handlebars to the
left or right to ensure that the front
w heel is stationary.
c. Rem ove the brake caliper.
d. Hold the dial gauge at a right angle
against the brake disc surface.
e. M easure the deflection 2 ~ 3 m m
below the edge of the brake disc.
