TROUBLESHOOTING
• The radiator fan motor fails to turn.
• The coolant temperature meter needle
fails to move w hen the engine is w arm.
Check:
1. m ain, signal system , and radiator fan
m otor fuses
2. battery
3. m ain sw itch
4. radiator fan m otor
5. therm o sw itch
6. tem perature sender
7. w iring
(the entire cooling system )
NOTE:
• Before troubleshooting, rem ove the
follow ing part(-s):
1) rider seat
2) bottom cow ling
3) front cow ling inner panels
4) left side cow ling
5) w indshield
• Troubleshoot w ith the follow ing spe-
cial tool(-s).

1.M ain, signal system and radiator fan
m otor fuses
• Check the m ain, signal system , and radi-
ator fan m otor fuses for continuity.
Refer to " CHECKING THE FUSES" in
chapter 3.
• Are the m ain, signal system , and radia-
tor fan m otor fuses OK?

2.Battery
• Check the condition of the battery.
Refer to " CHECKING AND CHARGING
THE BATTERY" in chapter 3.
Open-circuit voltage
12.8 V or more at 20 ˚C
NO
Replace the fuse(-s).
COOLING SYSTEM
• Is the battery OK?

3.M ain sw itch
• Check the m ain sw itch for continuity.
Refer to " CHECKING THE SWITCHES" .
• Is the m ain sw itch OK?

4.Radiator fan m otor (test 1)
• Disconnect the radiator fan m otor cou-
pler from the w ire harness.
• Connect the battery (12 V) as show n.
Battery positive lead → blue 1
Battery negative lead → black 2
• Does the radiator fan m otor turn?

• Clean the battery
term inals.
• Recharge or
replace the battery.
YES
Replace the m ain
sw itch.
YES
The radiator
m otor is faulty and
m ust be replaced.
