2. Check:
• starter clutch operation
a. Install the starter clutch gear 1 onto
the starter clutch 2 and hold the
starter clutch.
b. When turning the starter clutch gear
clockw ise Å, the starter clutch and
the starter clutch gear should engage,
otherw ise the starter clutch is faulty
and m ust be replaced.
c. When turning the starter clutch gear
counterclockw ise ı, it should turn
freely, otherw ise the starter clutch is
faulty and m ust be replaced.

INSTALLING THE CLUTCH

1. Install:
• clutch housing
NOTE:
• M ake sure that the slots a in the
clutch housing align w ith the tabs b
on the oil/w ater pum p assem bly drive
sprocket.
• M ake sure that the prim ary driven gear
teeth and prim ary drive gear teeth
m esh correctly.
• M ake sure that the starter clutch gear
teeth and starter clutch idle gear teeth
m esh correctly.
2. Install:
• clutch boss assem bly 1
NOTE:
• If the w ire circlip 2 has been rem oved,
carefully install a new one.
• Install the clutch dam per spring 3
w ith the " OUTSIDE" m ark facing out.
