TROUBLESHOOTING
Any of the follow ing fail to light: head-
light, high beam indicator light, taillight,
auxiliary light or meter light.
Check:
1. m ain, signaling system , and headlight
fuses
2. battery
3. m ain sw itch
4. lights sw itch
5. dim m er sw itch
6. pass sw itch
7. w iring
(of the entire charging system )
NOTE:
• Before troubleshooting, rem ove the
follow ing part(-s):
1) seats
2) fuel tank
3) air filter case
4) front cow ling inner panels
5) front cow ling
6) rear cow ling
• Troubleshoot w ith the follow ing spe-
cial tool(-s).
Pocket tester

1.M ain, signaling system , and headlight
fuses
• Check the m ain, signaling system , and
headlight fuses for continuity.
Refer to " CHECKING THE FUSES" in
chapter 3.
• Are the m ain, signaling system , and
headlight fuses OK?
YES
NO
Replace the fuse(-s).
LIGHTING SYSTEM

2.Battery
• Check the condition of the battery.
Refer to " CHECKING AND CHARGING
THE BATTERY" in chapter 3.
Open-circuit voltage
12.8 V or more at 20 ˚C
• Is the battery OK?

3.M ain sw itch
• Check the m ain sw itch for continuity.
Refer to " CHECKING THE SWITCHES" .
• Is the m ain sw itch OK?

4.Lights sw itch
• Check the lights sw itch for continuity.
Refer to " CHECKING THE SWITCHES" .
• Is the lights sw itch OK?

• Clean the battery
term inals.
• Recharge or
replace the battery.

Replace the m ain
sw itch.
YES
The lights sw itch is
faulty. Replace the
right handlebar
sw itch.
