CHECKING SWITCH CONTINUITY

Check each sw itch for continuity w ith the
pocket tester. If the continuity reading is
incorrect, check the w iring connections and
if necessary, replace the sw itch.
CAUTION:
ACHTUNG:
Never insert the tester probes into the
coupler terminal slots 1. Alw ays insert
the probes from the opposite end of the
coupler, taking care not to loosen or
damage the leads.

NOTE:
• Before checking for continuity, set the
pocket tester to " 0" and to the " Ω × 1"
range.
• When checking for continuity, sw itch
back and forth betw een the sw itch
positions a few tim es.
The term inal connections for sw itches
(e.g., m ain sw itch, engine stop sw itch)
are show n in an illustration sim ilar to
the one on the left.
The sw itch positions a are show n in the
far left colum n and the sw itch lead col-
ors b are show n in the top row in the
sw itch illustration.
NOTE:
" " indicates a continuity of elec-
tricity betw een sw itch term inals (i.e., a
closed circuit at the respective sw itch
position).
The example illustration on the left show s
that:
There is continuity betw een blue/red
and red w hen the sw itch is set to "
There is continuity betw een blue/red
and blue, betw een brow n/blue and red,
and betw een blue/yellow and blue/black
w hen the sw itch is set to " ON" .
