Fault clearance

Malfunction
Error in positioning
Drive tends to overswings
or permanent oscillations
The process valve does
not take on the correct
position if there is an
operating voltage failure.
The device does not react
to setpoint value
specifications.
The device does not react
to analogue setpoint value
specification.
The semi-rotary drive runs
to an end position, even
though another setpoint
value is specified.

Festo – CMSX-...-C-U-F1-... – 1506a English
Possible cause
Initialization has not been
executed
Fast-switching valves of the CMSX
defective
Mechanical connection between
CMSX and drive defective
Failure of the compressed air
supply or unstable compressed air
supply
Controller parameter incorrectly
set; small drives may require flow
control valves
Tubing connection between CMSX
and semi-rotary drive defective
Compressed air supply is lacking
Display shows the Sensor Error
message, as the sensing range of
the sensor has been exceeded.
The device is in the "Controller
stopped" operating status. The
controller is inactive.
The device reacts to a signal at the
control port D-IN.
Setpoint input is inactive
The device is operated in the
manual override operating mode.
The operating voltage supply is
outside the permissible range or
switched off. The fast-switching
valves take on the neutral position
(è Section 3.2).
Remedy
Execute initialization
(è Section 7.7.2)
Send the device to the Festo repair
service
Restore mechanical connection
(è Section 6.1);
tighten coupling, if necessary;
replace defective coupling
Establish compressed air supply;
minimise pressure fluctuations
(è Section 6.2)
Correct setting (è Section 7.6.7);
reduce speed with flow control
valves
Correct tubing connection between
CMSX and semi-rotary drive
(è Section 3.2).
Establish compressed air supply
Correct alignment and mechanical
connection between CMSX and
semi-rotary drive (è Section 6.1).
Start operation in order to activate
the controller (è Tab. 8)
Deactivate control signal at the
control port D-IN or correct
parameterisation (è Tab. 16)
Activate desired setpoint input
(è Tab. 16)
Activate automatic mode
(è Tab. 10).
Check operating voltage supply
(è Section 13)
