CAUTION
Incorrect alignment or assembly
Risk of injury due to damaged prosthetic components
►
Observe the alignment and assembly instructions.
NOTICE
Grinding the prosthetic foot
Premature wear resulting from damage to the prosthetic foot
►
Do not grind the prosthetic foot.
The three-dimensional alignment of the prosthetic socket affects the function of the prosthesis.
The patient can only benefit from the special characteristics of the prosthetic foot when the
product is correctly aligned.
The residual limb position, e.g. abduction, adduction and flexion, must be considered when posi
tioning the lamination anchor. This guarantees the maximum freedom of play for adjustments.
The alignment of the prosthesis is performed in the following steps:
•
Preparing the prosthetic socket
•
Bench alignment
•
Dynamic trial fitting
•
Finishing the prosthesis
5.1 Preparing the prosthetic socket
5.1.1 Fabricating the prosthetic socket
Required materials:
>
99B81 PVA Bag, 623T9 Nylglas Stockinette, 616G12 Carbon Fibre Cloth, 616G13 Fibre
glass Woven Hose, 617H55 C-Orthocryl
1) Pull on a soaked PVA bag that is heat welded at the distal end over the model.
2) Pull over two layers of Nylglas stockinette.
3) Place a strip of carbon fibre cloth on the medial and lateral sides from the distal end of the
residual limb up as far as the condyles.
4) Place a strip of carbon fibre cloth (width: approx. 8 cm) circularly around the MPT (mid-
patella tendon) point.
5) Cover the surfaces free of carbon around the attachment of the lamination anchor using car
bon fibre cloth.
6) Cut a piece of fibreglass woven hose (1.5 times the length of the plaster positive).
7) Pull the fibreglass woven hose over the model to the edge.
8) Tie off the fibreglass woven hose at the distal end and pull it over the model.
9) Perform the casting process with C-Orthocryl.
