tion"). The switch is also automatic
for connections which require a
crossed LAN line. For this reason, you
can also use an uncrossed LAN line
for a connection to another hub or
switch.
A LAN line (twisted-pair line in ac-
cordance with 10BaseT or
100BaseTX) can be up to 100 m long.
Secure operation with 100 Mbit/s re-
quires the use of category 5 lines
and line sockets.
DSL Port
The LAN port is also intended for
leading the DSL port to the router.
In the case of the OpenCom 130, the
output of the DSL modem (NTBBA) is
led to the LAN port of the

PPPoE
OpenCom 130 via an external switch
or hub. The router subsequently con-
verts the PPPoE protocol to the TCP/
IP protocol of the LAN.
Connection of the DSL modem is via
a crossover twisted-pair line. You can
also use a switchable port on the
hub, which is usually indicated by an
"X".
Note: If an add-on module is in-
stalled, you can also use the unused
LAN2 port to activate the DSL mo-
dem. Due to the "auto-crossover"
function, you do not require a cross-
wired line with a LAN port of the add-
on module. If you are operating a cas-
caded PBX, the LAN0 port on the add-
on module of the slave system can be
used instead (see PBX Cascading
starting on page 75).
