Functional description
The following two solutions have been implemented in the 1-fold DALI-
Gateway DG/S 1.1 to control and monitor the 128 DALI devices due to the
limited number of 255 communication objects in the bus coupler.
1. Broadcast control of the main and auxiliary channel
All devices of a channel can be controlled or read in broadcast mode, i.e. all
devices can be read or controlled together. All the devices on the channel
are controlled and monitored with just one communication object "Channel x"
(x = A or B). This is the same method of function which has been tried and
tested with the ABB i-bus® EIB / KNX 8-fold DALI-Gateway DG/S 8.1.
Channel x – On/Off
Channel x – Relative Dimming
Channel x – Set Brightness Value
Channel x – Device Slave Mode
Channel x – Telegr. Fault DALI
Channel x – Telegr. Fault Lamp(s)
Channel x – Telegr. Fault Device
2. Individual control of a device
Each of the individual 64 DALI devices of main channel A can be switched
on/off, dimmed or the brightness can be adjusted with just one "Device Axy"
communication object, as is usually the case in the EIB / KNX.
Device Axy – Switch/Status
Device Axy – Relative Dimming
Device Axy – Brightness value/Status
In addition, the 1-fold DALI-Gateway DG/S 1.1 features an address-related
individual option to control or read every single device of main channel A as
well as auxiliary channel B.
First of all, the communication object
Channel x – Selected Device
will select a device via its device address.
With a second telegram to one of the following communication objects, each
of the 128 DALI devices can be individually controlled or read.
Channel x – Selected Device On/Off
Channel x – Selected Device Rel. Dimming
Channel x – Selected Device Set Value
Channel x – Selected Device Slave Mode
Channel x – Selected Device Burn in Lamps
Channel x – Selected Device Read Position
Channel x – Selected Device Read Brightn.
Channel x – Selected Device Lamp Failure
Channel x – Selected Device Device Failure
