Functional description
should elapse before the next ballast is connected should be about 2
minutes.
This method is very simple but will require a very repetitive method of
operation, and can be a very time consuming and ineffective method to
connect ballasts to a gateway. Furthermore, there is no active
confirmation as the lamps cannot be activated during commissioning
without equipment such as push buttons or software tools.
The use of a specially developed DGS11 Software Tool for the DG/S 1.1 is
the most comfortable and convenient way to test and individually readdress
the DALI devices connected to the gateway.
The DGS11 Software Tool operates exclusively with the 1-fold DALI-
Gateway DG/S 1.1 and does not require ETS. The Falcon driver must be
installed on the PC and a connection to the EIB / KNX must exist via the
RS232 or USB interface.
The physical address of the DALI-Gateway must be entered in the DGS11
Software Tool. In this way the gateway which is to be used for the
configuration should be selected. Subsequently, all devices connected to the
gateway with DALI interfaces can be displayed, switched on and off with
selectable brightness and readdressed to suit individual requirements via
"drag and drop". As only the DALI addresses are modified, the parameter
settings and group assignments already undertaken in ETS remain
unchanged.
Furthermore, a simple monitor is available with the DGS11 Software Tool
which visualises the connected DALI devices of the DG/S 1.1 and indicates
lamp and ballast faults. The advantage is that ETS or DALI knowledge is not
required. Thus, this software tool is an ideal tool for a facility manager which
can immediately detect the current state of the DALI system during normal
operation.
As long as the DGS11 Software Tool is only used as a visualisation tool, the
system will continue to be functional. The tool does not have any influence
on the connected DALI device. The devices are only influenced when the
configuration mode is accessed.
A detailed description of the DGS11 Software Tool can be found in the
appendix.
It is not advisable to connect the DGS11 Software Tool
continuously to the EIB / KNX as there is a high loading on the
bus due to the continuous updating of the display.
