Electrical Shock Hazard
Disconnect power before servicing.
Replace all parts and panels before
operating.
Failure to do so can result in death or
electrical shock.
1. First, determine if the leak is from the door
seal or the door glass. If standing water
or residue is found at the bottom of the
door glass, then a door glass or door glass
seal needs to be attended to. If the leak or
residue is found only under the door on the
washer front panel, then the door seal or
door alignment may need attention.

Most door leaks can be contributed to debris
on the door seal or tub front lip. Clean these
areas regularly and check this first if the
washer leaks out the front of the door.

Check the door closing force to see if there
is enough resistance to latching the handle,
which brings the door seal into tight contact
with the tub front lip. If not (See page 8-26).
If so, then check for even pressure around
the door seal using chalk around the tub
lip front surface, then closing and latching
the door, make sure not to force the door
other than using the door handle to latch
the door. Then open the door and check
for even chalk transfer around door rubber
seal. Where there are gaps there needs to
be more pressure. Gaps at the hinge side
will probably require a shim removal from
the hinge. Gaps in the door lock area would
normally require shim removal from the
Door Lock Mounting Block, or from behind
the Door Handle Block. Gaps at the top or
bottom can be due to too much force used
to latch the door causing the door to bow.
Changes have been made to door hinges
starting in January 2007. The hinge bolts
were changed on most models to allow for
easier tightening and releasing of the hinge
bolts. The carriage bolt design does make
it much easier to tighten the hinge blocks
to the door and makes adjusting the door
closure force easier as well, however, it
does require the technician to take notice
when ordering the correct hinge parts.
