Electrical Shock Hazard
Disconnect power before servicing.
Replace all parts and panels before
operating.
Failure to do so can result in death or
electrical shock.
1.
Problems with the door lock may be
diagnosed without taking the washer front
panel off in some cases. In early MFR
models there was no access to the door
lock mechanism without removing the front
panel. In February of 2007 changes started
to appear on the MFR washers starting
with the MFR30 that would allow easier
access to the lock assembly. There was an
added access panel around the door lock
assembly mounted to the front panel,
(See page 4-23).
2.
Electrical checks of the door lock switches
can be made at the control board DL1
connector if it is deemed easier than
accessing the switches or the wire harness
at the lock assembly.

NOTE: When checking components from
the control board make sure the connector
is disconnected from the control board
(See page 7-3).
4.
To troubleshoot the door lock in its location
on the washer, it is necessary to to access
the lock mechanism, (See page 4-23).
Remove 1 wire from each switch before
performing a continuity or résistance check.
Running the washer with the front panel
removed is not appropriate, but performing
the door lock testing is appropriate with the
front panel off. Notice each change of latch
state when the door is closed and then
when the door is latched. See that the door
closed switch changes state when the door
closes and that the Leaf Spring lifts when
the door is latched.
5.
Select a wash cycle (and press start on a
PN washer), watch the Lock Solenoid pull
in the plunger and move the Door Blocking
bar under the Leaf Spring and behind the
door handle hook. As the Door Blocking bar
moves to the right the Door Locked Switch
must change state. If the solenoid activates
but the Door Blocking bar does not move,
due to interference with another component,
make adjustments as needed to allow the
Door Handle, Leaf Spring, Door Blocking
bar, and Door Closed Switch to all operate
properly.
