Writing data
Writing data means that data are transmitted to the soft starter.
Reading data
Reading data means that data are transmitted from the soft starter.

Activating the OPC UA server

In the default setting, the OPC UA server and the OPC UA server control function are not
active.
Activating the OPC UA server via the display
To activate the OPC UA server via the display of the 3RW44, follow these steps:
1. Select "Settings > Fieldbus > OPC UA server > On" in the menu. Objects can now be
read.
2. To enable execution of control functions, select "Einstellungen > Feldbus > OPC-UA-
Server Steuerfunktionen > Ein" (Settings > Field bus > OPC UA Server control function >
On) in the menu and save the settings (see Parameter settings in the soft starter under
Fieldbus (Page 36)).

Restarting the communication interface
Each change to the "OPC UA Server" parameter requires that the communication interface
be restarted.
A restart of the communication interface disconnects and then reconnects all Ethernet and
PROFINET connections.
Activating the OPC UA server via the"Soft Starter ES 2007" software
The OPC UA server can also be activated via the "Soft Starter ES 2007" software. For safety
reasons the software must be connected via the local device interface.
1. Select "Device parameters > Field bus interface > PROFINET Parameters" in the menu.
2. In the "PROFINET Parameters" window, choose "OPC UA Server / OPC UA Server
control function".
