PROFINET
PROFINET (Process Field Network) is the open Industrial Ethernet standard of Profibus &
Profinet International (PI) for automation.
Within the framework of Totally Integrated Automation (TIA), PROFINET is a consistent
continuation of:
● PROFIBUS DP, the established fieldbus
● Industrial Ethernet, the communication bus for the cell level
Experiences from both systems have been and are being integrated in PROFINET.
PROFINET IO controller
Device via which the connected IO devices are addressed. This means: the IO controller
exchanges input and output signals with assigned field devices. The IO controller is often the
controller on which the automation program runs.
PROFINET IO device
Distributed field device assigned to one of the IO controllers.
S7 slave
An S7 slave is a slave that is fully integrated in STEP 7. It is integrated via the OM Soft
Starter ES.
It supports the S7 model (diagnostic interrupts).
Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)
Network protocol for monitoring and controlling network elements (e.g., switches).
Soft Starter ES 2007
Soft Starter ES 2007 is the central software for commissioning, operation, and diagnostics of
the SIRIUS 3RW44 High Feature Soft Starter series.
Step 7
The basic STEP 7 software is the standard tool for the SIMATIC S7, SIMATIC C7 and
SIMATIC WinAC automation systems.
