4.1 Inserting the PROFINET communication module
To install the PROFINET communication module, follow these steps:

The following combinations of connector designs for PROFINET connecting cables are
possible:
• One straight connector
• Two straight connectors
• One angled connector
• One straight and one angled connector

Description
Slide a small screwdriver into the
opening of the cover of the
3RW44 soft starter (1). Gently
press down with the screwdriver
(2) and remove the cover (3).
Insert the PROFINET
communication module into the
device (4).
Fasten the PROFINET
communication module with the
enclosed screws (5). Torque 0.8
to 1.2 Nm (7 to 10.3 lb.in).
Insert the PROFINET connecting
cable into one of the sockets of
the communication module (6).
Switch on the supply voltage.
The "BUS" LED flashes yellow.
The communication module has
been inserted correctly, but has
not yet been activated (activation,
see section Commissioning
(Page 31)).
